aluminum flashing, steel, medical tubing, found glass, sewing pins, paint
54”x36”x60”
My Spine is about my concerns surrounding infirmity. It embodies anxiety, with sharp edges that inform how the viewer relates their body to the piece and a general sense of potential collapse. The medical tubing and the stooped quality of the piece, along with the walker-like steel structure, raise a conversation about infirm bodies. The timing of the piece has informed this reading, as it was created right before the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States. The piece is autobiographical, created after the passing of a friend and in response to my fears of infirmity.
